Koshi Road Accident Kills 37 During Dashain-Tihar

A tragic toll of 37 lives was lost in road accidents across Koshi Province during the recent Dashain-Tihar festivities. From Ghatasthapana to Bhai Tika, a period spanning from October 3rd to November 4th, a total of 582 accidents were reported.

The Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, Itahari, revealed that the accidents claimed the lives of 29 men, 2 girls, 8 women, and one child. The deadliest day was Monday, November 4th, with 28 accidents and three fatalities.

Jhapa district witnessed the highest number of fatalities with 13 deaths, followed by Morang with 8 and Sunsari with 7. Udayapur, Sankhuwasabha, and Khotang each recorded 2 deaths, while Dhankuta, Taplejung, and Solukhumbu reported one fatality each.

A staggering 961 individuals were injured in these accidents. Morang district had the highest number of accidents with 216, followed by Jhapa with 165 and Sunsari with 146.

Motorcycles were the most frequently involved vehicles, accounting for 513 of the accidents.
