A fire broke out on an American Airlines aircraft at Denver International Airport on Thursday, causing an emergency evacuation. The aircraft was stationed at gate C38 in Concourse C when the incident occurred.

Passengers were forced to evacuate onto the wing of the plane, as reported by Fox News. However, no immediate reports on injuries were available.

According to CBS News, the fire was triggered by an engine malfunction, which led to the aircraft making an emergency landing at the Colorado airport.

This incident adds to a series of aviation accidents in the U.S. this year. One of the most tragic cases was a midair collision in January between an American Airlines regional jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The accident, which occurred over the Potomac River, resulted in the deaths of all 67 people on board both aircraft and has prompted a major federal investigation.

Other aviation mishaps this year include a fatal air ambulance crash in Philadelphia’s Castor Gardens neighborhood, which claimed seven lives and injured 22 others, and a collision between two small planes in Arizona in February, resulting in two fatalities.

Authorities continue to investigate the Denver fire incident as concerns over aviation safety grow nationwide.
