Durga Prasai, who was arrested for violating the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063, has been admitted to the hospital.
According to police sources, Prasai was admitted to Nepal Cancer Hospital in Harisidhi, Lalitpur, on Thursday afternoon.
While being brought to the District Court in Kathmandu for an extension of his detention, Prasai complained to the judge about his cancer condition, stating that he had been unable to receive proper treatment. Following his request, the judge ordered a medical examination and instructed that his care be handled according to the doctor’s recommendations.
The police then took him to Bir Hospital for further evaluation, but after the doctors assessed his condition, he was sent back to police custody at the Singhdarbar police circle.
“Since he reported health issues, he was transferred back to the facility where his medical checks had previously been done,” an officer explained.
Prasai was arrested from his residence in Bhaktapur on November 19 after he claimed that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had an investment in the Cambodia-based Smart Axiata Company. During the investigation, the documents he presented were found to be counterfeit, leading to his arrest under a court-issued warrant.
Prasai was initially held by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB), but the investigation has since been transferred to the Cyber Bureau within the CIB.
