A tragic boating accident occurred in the Red Sea on Friday, leaving several people missing and others injured. Egyptian and Chinese authorities confirmed that 28 people, including two Chinese tourists, were rescued from a sinking boat off the coast of Marsa Alam.
The Sea Story, a boat carrying 31 tourists and 14 crew members, departed from Port Ghalib on Sunday. A distress signal was received early Friday morning, prompting a massive search and rescue operation involving the Egyptian navy and air force.
The rescued individuals were airlifted to receive medical attention. While the two Chinese tourists were found safe by passing vessels, the search continues for the remaining missing persons.
The Chinese Embassy in Egypt has activated its emergency response mechanism to provide consular assistance to its citizens involved in the incident.
